Pictorial summary charts and a large graphic organizer being used during whole-class read aloud of "Refugee" by Alan Gratz.

Classroom management is very important to me when behaviors are getting in the way of learning. I like to slow down and bring students back together to a quiet space by using certain classroom management techniques, such as the one being shown here.

I color coded the Google Chromebooks in my placement classroom to help the 2nd grade students put away and charge their Chromebooks more efficiently. Additionally, this helped with classroom management, as I could call students by color or by student number to put their Chromebooks away.

I utilize manipulatives in math to help students gain conceptual understanding of the concepts. Here, I am using linking cubes to help students understand fractional side lengths and how to calculate it.

I implemented cues during physical education classes to engage the students and to integrate nutrition into the lessons. As an example, when I called out "blueberries", the students would spread out.

I like to utilize visuals, such as dry erase boards, to aid students during reading group instruction.

This is an anchor chart I used when teaching area and volume with fractional side lengths to my 6th grade class.

When possible, I use real-world examples during math to help students better understand the problem and gain more intrinsic motivation. In this lesson, students were working to solve a problem involving shipping boxes of different sizes, so I brought actual shipping boxes in for students to use.

I taught an art lesson on Keith Haring where the students did an "Artist Study" based on a picture book about Keith Haring. The students analyzed Keith Haring's artwork and created their own individual Keith Haring-inspired kindness poster. The posters were put together to create a "quilt", and the quilt was hung up during Kindness Week.
